A print project exploring family history through locations.
This project is a documentation of a personal journey exploring the ideas of Flâneur and Anemoia and their interplay with told history. A Flâneur is someone who wanders in order to explore the history of a place and is often associated with psycho-geography. Focusing on the exploration of urban space with an emphasis on aimless drifting and an air of playfulness. Practicing this kind of exploration not necessarily as viable due to the pandemic has led me to rely mainly on photographs taken by others supplemented with told history. To simulate the experience of drifting I have employed automatic writing, a technique used in poetry. The project's namesake Anemoia describes a sensation of nostalgia for a time you’ve never known.
